Speed Glum Hero by D Mortimer (2nd Edition)
Speed Glum Hero. Read it as an instruction: Speed, Glum Hero. Read it as an assertion of life, like, keep living, go on. It takes this kind of serious play to make any sense of this moment we are living through. This is a pamphlet about subjectivity splintering, substance, and legend. This is a pamphlet about complicity, tenderness, and distress. This is a pamphlet about what it takes to stay gripping to the earth. The only way out is through.
On Speed Glum Hero, eliot duncan says:
“Mortimer's Speed Glum Hero is perfectly mad. It's electrically mythic with crip poetics, with butch lexicon and with the unconditional love that spurs inside a breakdown.
I love this text, which elegantly shoulders Mortimer's prose into the canon of mad writing so that we might together dance, charge, cry and write in the asylum, in the crisis house and at the edge of Lake Lorazepam.”
